ZACH Theatre has announced their 2022-2023 season, which will include an ASL reimagining of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. The Austin, Texas theatre will partner with Deaf Austin Theatre on the production, which will be performed simultaneously in English and American Sign Language.

The company will use the 2013 Broadway version of the classic title, which features a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and an expanded score incorporating Rodgers and Hammerstein-penned songs not originally written for the fairy tale musical. ZACH's production will run January 25–March 5, 2023 at the Topfer.

The season will open with the regional premiere of The Inheritance Part 2 September 14–October 16 at the Kleberg. ZACH presented the first part of the Tony-winning two-part play as the final show of their 2021-2022 season. Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley will helm with movement by Cassie Abate.

Following Cinderella, ZACH will present the regional premiere of Roe by Lisa Loomer April 5–30, 2023, following a delay in scheduling due to the 2020 shutdown. The new work, which will play the Topfer, dives into the lives of the women behind Roe v Wade, with Jenny Lavery directing.

The season will close with the regional premiere of Go-Go's jukebox musical Head Over Heels, playing August 9–September 10, 2023 in the Topfer. Steakley will direct the production.

An additional contemporary musical, to run June 7–July 9, 2023 in the Topfer, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The ZACH Family Series will include the return of Cenicienta, an award-winning bilingual stage adaptation of the tale of Cinderella by Caroline Reck and Rupert Reyes (November 3–December 9); the return of Shaun Wainwright Branigan and Jerome Schoolar's Holiday Heroes (November 30–December 17); and Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat, as devised by the National Theatre of Great Britain, directed at the ZACH by Nat Miller (February 21–April 23, 2023).

The theatre will also present two add-on productions. Kristoffer Diaz's The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity will play the Topfer September 28–October 23. Directed by Jerry Ruiz, the comedic work follows the life of wrestler Macedonio Guerra.

Looking ahead to the holiday season, Steakley's musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol will return with Steakley directing, music direction by Allen Robertson, and choreography by Jennifer Young Mahlsteadt. The holiday production will play the Topfer November 16–January 1, 2023.
