Barbra Streisand

EGOT winner Barbra Streisand releases her long-awaited memoir November 7.

Titled My Name Is Barbra, the hardcover autobiography is available from Penguin Random House.

The new tome charts Streisand's life and career, from growing up in Brooklyn to her breakout performance in Funny Girl on stage and screen, and the string of successes in every medium that followed. Streisand also recounts her early struggles to become an actor, eventually turning to singing to earn a living; the recording of some of her albums; the years of effort involved in making Yentl; her direction of The Prince of Tides; her friendships with everyone from Marlon Brando to Madeleine Albright; her political advocacy; and the fulfillment she’s found in her marriage to James Brolin.

Streisand has recorded 52 gold, 31 platinum, and 13 multi-platinum albums, achieving No. 1 albums in each of the six consecutive decades. She is the only artist ever to receive Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, and Peabody awards, as well as France's Legion d’Honneur, the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and is the first female film director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. In 2015, President Barack Obama presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
