Tony and Emmy winner Billy Porter is slated to direct an episode of the Fox crime anthology Accused. According to Variety, the specific episode will dive into the story of a drag queen’s affair and its aftermath.

The forthcoming series is based on Jimmy McGovern's British series of the same name, which has gone on to win two International Emmy Awards and a BAFTA TV Award. With each episode featuring a fresh cast, the show follows those accused of a crime as they recall the details of their crime while awaiting their verdicts.

Best known as a Tony-winning performer, Porter's work as a director includes helming Sam Harris' 2015 solo show HAM: A Musical Memoir, and the recent New York City Center Encores! production of The Life. Porter is acclaimed for originating the role of Lola in Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's Kinky Boots. Other Broadway credits include starring in the original cast of Shuffle Along Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, as well as productions of White Rabbit Red Rabbit, Angels in America, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Miss Saigon, Five Guys Named Joe, and Smokey Joe's Cafe.

His recent television and movie credits include making an appearance in Apple TV+'s Dear, starring opposite Camila Cabello and Idina Menzel in Amazon Prime's Cinderella, and leading the cast of Ryan Murphy's FX series Pose.
