Plus, it was standing room only at four Broadway musicals.

Last week on Broadway, cumulative grosses fell slightly—by nearly $500,000—despite two additional shows on the boards, with both Kimberly Akimbo and KPOP beginning previews.

But that didn't stop house records being broken at the Neil Simon and Longacre Theatres, with MJ the Musical and Leopoldstadt both enjoying the highest-grossing weeks of their runs so far. Leopoldstadt, which opened October 2 (read reviews here), took in $1,095,529 last week, playing to an 83.23%-full house. MJ broke records at the Neil Simon for the seventh time in its run, taking in $1,777,138 and filling 100.42% of seats.

MJ was just one of four Broadway musicals that played to standing-room-only crowds last week, with The Phantom of the OperaHamilton, and Funny Girl also playing to audiences in excess of 100% of their theatres' seats. Their performance is part of Broadway's trend of excellent attendance, with 90.85% of seats filled cumulatively last week and 87.3% for the entire season to date.

Last week's top earners were no surprise, with The Music ManHamiltonThe Lion KingMJ, and Wicked comprising the top five.
