The ticket initiative is open to those working on select holidays.

Jefferson Mays in A Christmas Carol

Broadway's A Christmas Carol has announced the Bob Cratchit Free Ticket Program for individuals working during select holidays. Featuring Tony winner Jefferson Mays, the limited engagement will begin previews November 8 ahead of a November 21 opening. The run is set through January 1, 2023, at the Nederlander Theatre.

Anyone working on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Hanukkah, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or Kwanzaa is eligible to submit a request for a single free ticket for a performance November 8-20.

Tony nominee Michael Arden will direct the show, which he conceived with Tony-nominated designer Dane Laffrey. Mays plays all the roles in the Charles Dickens Christmas classic featuring a script adapted by Mays, Susan Lyons, and Arden.

To request a free ticket, those interested must submit proof of employment, which "can be any sort of image of you at work – make it fun, make it festive, have your coworkers join. The more creative submissions could be used on the show’s social media platforms. Proof of employment can also be a picture of your employee nametag or work identification card. Please do not send anything that might include personal or sensitive information such as home address, social security numbers, etc."

This version of A Christmas Carol made its world premiere in 2018 at Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse. In winter 2020, a film version, produced by Hunter Arnold, was released to benefit partner theatres during the height of the pandemic shutdown.

The creative team also includes lighting designer Ben Stanton, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon, sound designer Joshua D. Reid, hair and makeup designer Cookie Jordan, puppet designer John Kristiansen, casting director Stephen Kopel, and associate director and production stage manager Justin Scribner.
