Broadway's Kimberly Akimbo has recorded a Broadway cast album, to be released later this season. The new musical, which makes its Broadway premiere at the Booth Theatre following a 2021 run at Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company, features a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and a score by Fun Home Tony winner Jeanine Tesori.
Get a sneak peek at the upcoming Ghostlight Records release with a music video featuring Bonnie Milligan, who plays Debra, belting out her vocals for "Better" from the score along with the rest of the company above.
Directed by Jessica Stone and featuring choreography by Danny
Mefford, the production began performances October 12 and is set to
celebrate opening night November 10.
Tony winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) stars
as Kimberly, a bright New Jersey teenager with an aging disease that
makes her look like a 72-year-old lady. She leads a cast that also
includes Justin Cooley in his Broadway debut, Tony nominee Steven Boyer (Hand to God), Alli Mauzey (Cry Baby, Wicked), Milligan (Head Over Heels), and Fernell Hogan (The Prom), plus Olivia Elease Hardy, Michael Iskander, and Nina White, all making their Broadway debuts.
The musical had its world premiere Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater
Company in 2021. The complete cast from that run has continued on for
the Broadway bow.
Stone's creative team also includes music director Chris Fenwick, orchestrator John Clancy (with additional orchestrations by Macy Schmidt), scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy MacKinnon, and wig, hair, and make-up designer J. Jared Janas. Arabella Powell is the production stage manager, and the production is cast by The Telsey Office's Craig Burns.
