The new Broadway musical The Great Gatsby, which officially opened at the Broadway Theatre April 25, 2024, will launch a North American tour next year.
The tour of the musical based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel will kick off January 31–February 7, 2026, at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. The production will subsequently play more than 50 cities including engagements in Dallas and Cleveland. Additional tour dates and casting will be announced at a later date.
“As we celebrate the centennial of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless story, we couldn't be more thrilled for the next significant chapter of our journey with the upcoming tour. The Great Gatsby has been embraced with such amazing enthusiasm on Broadway, solidifying its place as a true fan favorite. With generations already familiar with the book and movies, I am beyond excited for audiences across the country to be mesmerized by the glitz and glamour of seeing musical theatre at its finest,” said producer Chunsoo Shin in a statement.
Director Marc Bruni added, “After seeing the way our musical has resonated with audiences and broken box-office records at the Broadway Theatre, I’m thrilled to celebrate the centennial of Fitzgerald’s classic novel with a national tour that will allow those around the country to witness the spectacularly opulent work of my collaborators. Now everyone across North America is invited to the party!”
Based on the Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square) and Jason Howland (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones). Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley (Mariah’s Magical Christmas Special).
Set in the Roaring '20s, the musical follows eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.
The Broadway cast currently features Ryan McCartan as Jay Gatsby, Eva Noblezada (Hadestown) as Daisy Buchanan (through January 30) with Noah J. Ricketts (Frozen) as Nick Carraway, Sara Chase (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Myrtle, Samantha Pauly (Six) as Jordan Baker, John Zdrojeski (Good Night Oscar) as Tom Buchanan, Terrence Mann (Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables) as Wolfsheim, and Charlie Pollock (Urinetown) as George Wilson.
