Two days after nabbing the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, The Cher Show star Stephanie J. Block was greeted with a roaring ovation from the audience at the Neil Simon Theatre as she made her first entrance as the show’s titular pop icon.

Cher herself shared footage of Block's entrance during the June 11 performance.

Block paid tribute to Cher in her Tony acceptance speech on June 10 at Radio City Music Hall, saying, “I quit this business at least two or three times a year, and yet I still stand here because of the people who love me, and I know that it takes and endurance and tenacity.” She then pointed out those same qualities in Cher: “That was one of the reasons why I said 'yes' to play her. Her tenacity and her resilience and never giving up on whatever life throws at her has brought me here.”
