Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo visited the Broadway production of Wicked June 18, where she spent time with the stage management team and current stars Talia Suskauer and Brittney Johnson. Erivo shared photos from her visit on Instagram.

Erivo is set to portray Elphaba in the upcoming Universal Pictures adaptation of Wicked, alongside Ariana Grande as Glinda. In April it was announced that the long awaited adaptation, which is to be directed by Jon M. Chu, will be released in two separate installments.

Universal Pictures will release the first film December 25, 2024, and the second will arrive one year later, December 25, 2025.

The movie's screenplay is written by Winnie Holzman, based on Gregory Maguire's Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West novel and Holzman's musical book. It is produced by Marc Platt, along with David Stone and Brian Popkin. The Broadway musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and continues at the Gershwin Theatre.
