The trend of immersive art exhibits, which sent experiences like Immersive Van Gogh and Monet: The Immersive Experience into the social media stratosphere, will continue with Disney Animation: Immersive Experience.
The production, which premiered in Toronto this past December, will tour nine venues throughout the United States. Developed in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios, the experience surrounds attendees in projections of art from Disney's animated catalog.
Projections from Disney's classic animated films, such as Pinocchio and Bambi, will be shown alongside more contemporary fare such as Encanto and Frozen. Interactive elements of the experience include responsive projections, light-up bracelets, and a bubble gallery.
The public opening dates for each city follow: Cleveland, Ohio, January 19; Nashville, Tennessee, February 9; Detroit, Michigan, February 9; Denver, Colorado, February 16; Boston, Massachusetts, February 23; San Antonio, Texas, February 28; Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 23; Las Vegas, Nevada, March 30; and Columbus, Ohio, April 6. Additional cities will be announced at a later date.
Said Clark Spencer, president of Walt Disney Animation Studios, “The collaboration with Lighthouse Immersive is a first for Disney Animation.
