The Tony-winning musical will be presented at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in November.

Elena Shaddow

Broadway's Elena Shaddow (The Bridges of Madison County, The Visit, La Cage aux Folles) is set to make history as the first performer to portray both Clara and Margaret in different professional productions of The Light in the Piazza.

Shaddow, who played daughter Clara in the first national tour of the Tony-winning musical, will now play mother Margaret in a concert performance November 27 at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London. Presented by Quick Fantastic (Gypsy in Concert, Sunset Boulevard at Royal Albert Hall), the production will be directed by Charlotte Conquest, and a 15-piece orchestra will be conducted by Alex Parker.

Further casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer and featuring a book by Craig Lucas and a Tony-winning score by Adam Guettel, The Light in the Piazza follows an American mother vacationing in Florence, Italy, with her daughter, who falls in love with a local man and forces her mother to embrace her own undreamt-of opportunities in the shadow of a tragic accident.

The original Broadway production won six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations.
