Fun Home’s Alison Bechdel and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom to Play Themselves in Broadway-Themed Simpsons Episode | Playbill

Film & TV News Fun Home’s Alison Bechdel and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom to Play Themselves in Broadway-Themed Simpsons Episode The October 8 episode will also feature Tony winner Martin Short.

Fun Home author Alison Bechdel and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom will lend their voices to an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, playing versions of themselves.

The October 8 episode, titled “Springfield Splendor,” will also guest star Tony winner Martin Short.

In the episode, Lisa and Marge turn a traumatizing experience into a graphic novel, which in turn is adapted into a Broadway show (not unlike Bechdel’s Fun Home). However, as the show moves forward, the two begin to squabble over creative differences.

The long-running animated comedy from Fox is no stranger to pulling Broadway talent and exploring theatre-related plots; past episodes have featured musical parodies of such titles as A Streetcar Named Desire (Oh, Streetcar!) and Planet of the Apes.
