Abingdon Theatre Company's It Happened in Key West concert presentation plays Duane Park March 7.
The one-night-only concert is brought to the stage by Abingdon Artistic Director Chad Austin, and features Wicked's Jessica Vosk and Tony nominees Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) and Max von Essen (Anastasia). Also starring is Wade McCollum (Wicked), Shereen Pimentel (West Side Story), Pierre Marias (Aladdin), Ilda Mason (West Side Story), Mikaela Bennett (Renascence), and Jonathan Hoover (A Chorus Line).
With an original book by Jill Santoriello, Jason Huza, and Jeremiah James, It Happened in Key West is a romantic comedy based on a true story that takes place in the 1930s. It followsan x-ray technician who falls in love with one of his patients.
The concertis an addition to Abingdon’s Broadway on the Bowery series, which previously featured the cabaret show Red, Hot & Vaxed.
The show is an autobiographical stand-up comedy show exploring Ricky Sim's decision to come out as gay to his terminally ill Chinese-Malaysian immigrant mother.
The piece, which previously enjoyed sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, London's Soho Theatre, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and more, will return to Soho Playhouse.
The piece will be the latest offering in their 19th season of Project Shaw, a series of script-in-hand performances paired with post-show discussions alongside the cast and director.
The Pose and Loot star teased a second go at Audrey in the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical after celebrating the Off-Broadway revival's current star, Jinkx Monsoon.
