Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 and 3) (Off-Broadway at The Public Theater). The Public Theater production of Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks' Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) features Sterling K. Brown, Louis Cancelmi, Peter Jay Fernandez, Jeremie Harris, Russell G. Jones, Jenny Jules, Ken Marks, Jacob Ming-Trent, Tonye Patano and Julian Rozzell Jr. Here's how the Public bills the works: "In Part 1, A Measure of a Man, Hero, a slave who is accustomed to his master's lies, must now decide whether to join him on the Confederate battlefield in exchange for a promise of freedom. Part 2, The Battle in the Wilderness follows Hero and the Colonel as they lead a captured Union solider toward the Confederate lines as the cannons approach. The York Theatre Company's staging of the 1992 musical My Favorite Year features Tony Award nominee Douglas Sills, Adam Chanler-Berat, Rose Hemingway, Richard Kind, Leslie Kritzer, Aaron Galligan-Stierle, Bree Branker, Joy Hermalyn, Francis Jue, Daniel Marcus, Barbara Marineau, Christine Pedi, Emily Walton and Nick Wyman. "After landing his dream job as a writer’s assistant on the 1954 season of the 'King Kaiser Comedy Hour,' young Benjy Stone finds himself pressed into service as a caretaker for guest star Alan Swann, a legendary swashbuckling movie star – and party animal," according to press notes. "Their adventures take them from the television studio to a wild night on the town in this new version of the show that includes changes to the structure and book as well as several new songs."
