Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre has revealed its 31st season, which will feature three world premieres from ensemble members: an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Steadfast Tin Soldier: A Christmas Pantomime, conceived and directed by Tony winner Mary Zimmerman (Metamorphoses), followed by Kareem Bandealy's play Act(s) of God, and David Catlin's Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, inspired by the classic gothic novel.

Lookingglass' 2018–2019 season will begin November 7 with Zimmerman's The Steadfast Tin Soldier: A Christmas Pantomime. The production will weave image and movement as well as live musicians. Performances are scheduled through January 13, 2019.

Beginning in February, the company will present Bandealy's Act(s) of God, in which a family, gathered for dinner, awaits the arrival of a visitor of cosmic proportion. Artistic Director Heidi Stillman will direct a run scheduled for February 13–April 7.

Concluding the season is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, written and directed by Catlin, creator of Lookingglass' Moby Dick and Lookingglass Alice. Performances will run May 8–August 4.

“We are excited about our 31st season: three new plays springing from the vivid imaginations of three brilliant Ensemble Members. This season features two of our most prolific and well-loved auteur directors, Mary Zimmerman and David Catlin, as well as a play by our recent Ensemble Member and new playwright, Kareem Bandealy,” says Stillman in a statement. “Together with our new Executive Director Rachel L. Fink, we are looking forward to starting our next 30 years with a dynamic lineup of Lookingglass originals.”

Subscriptions to Lookingglass’ 2018-2019 season are on sale now and may be purchased through the box office at (312) 337-0665 or lookingglasstheatre.org.
