Matthew Lombardo's new play Conversations With Mother will join the licensing catalogue of Dramatists Play Service, an imprint of Broadway Licensing Global. Following an Off-Broadway premiere earlier this year, the title is already available for new productions.
The semi-autobiographical work follows Italian matriarch Maria Collavechio and her gay son over five decades. Caroline Aaron and Tony winner Matt Doyle led the recent Off-Broadway bow.
“Matthew has written a deeply personal and undeniably funny play that speaks to audiences of every background,” says BLG Chief Executive Officer Ted Chapin in a statement. “We are honored to welcome Conversations With Mother into the DPS catalogue.”
"This play artfully balances sharp comedy with tender insight," adds BLG Chief Operating Officer Dan Markley. "It’s an exceptional choice for theatres seeking a small-cast production that leaves a meaningful emotional impact.”
