The festival raised over $650,000 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS program.

The in-person return of Fire Island Dance Festival was held July 15-17 and raised $655,090 benefiting Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The three day event was hosted by American Ballet Theatre principal dancer James Whiteside.

This year’s performances included four world premieres—two pas de deux, the festival’s first nonbinary duet, and an ensemble number—by choreographers Joshua Beamish, Adriana Pierce, Caleb Teicher and Abdiel, and Akira Uchida.

Since its premiere in 1995, Fire Island Dance Festival has raised more than $7.7 million to help provide lifesaving medication, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance to those in need in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. That support also includes a $25,000 grant again this year to the Pines Care Center in recognition and support of the Fire Island Pines community.

The return of Fire Island Dance Festival was supported by The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation in memory of Diana King, the SHS Foundation, and Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and by corporate sponsors M•A•C Viva Glam, The New York Times and United Airlines.

As a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Dancers Responding to AIDS supports the essential programs of the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), including the HIV/AIDS Initiative and The Dancers' Resource, as well as more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
