Newly released production shots are offering a first look at NSangou Njikam's A Freeky Introduction, currently making its world premiere Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company. The work is playing the company's Atlantic Stage 2 space, where opening night will be June 3. Performances will continue through June 22.
Njikam stars as Freeky Dee, who is there to lead audiences towards freedom with a mix of poetry, ministry, and magic. He's joined by DJ Monday Blue, with Dennis A. Allen II directing.
The production features choreography by Jill M. Vallery, sets by Jason Ardizzone-West, costumes by Iusaset "U-U" Bakr, lighting by Sim Carpenter, sound by G. Clausen, murals by Dister, and props by Rachel M.F. Kenner. Monét Thibou is production stage manager.
Tony winner André De Shields will receive the Juneteenth Legacy Award
at the free concert hosted by two-time Tony winner Kara Young and Jon
Michael Hill.
