Go inside Anoushka Lucas' new play Elephant, currently running at London's Bush Theatre. Performances began October 24 for the solo work for a run through November 12.

Starring Lucas, Elephant follows Lylah, a girl who loves to play the piano and turns to it for solace. Facing pressures in school where she must be a model student in order to keep her scholarship, and isolated at home where her parents are distracted and her cousins unenthusiastic about her company, she turns to her piano.

Elephant was commissioned by Bush Theatre, and first appeared in its Protest video series which was created in response to the murder of George Floyd.

Lucas has previously starred in National Theatre's After Life, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's Jesus Christ Superstar, Gate Theatre's Faces in the Crowd, and more. Lucas has also released her debut album, and has composer credits including Park Theatre and NAMT Festival's The Ballad of Klook and Vinette and Theatre Royal Stratford East's The Etienne Sisters.
