Saturday, August 9
LAST CHANCE→ It's your last chance to enjoy Lincoln Center's Out of Doors festival. Rosanne Cash (Sat.) and a blues show from Bobby Patterson and soulman Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires (Sun.) will close out the annual free concert series. Sunday, August 10
LAST CHANCE→ Tony winner Sutton Foster stars as the facially disfigured title character in the Roundabout revival of Jeanine Tesori's first musical, Violet. Upon a Greyhound bus bound for a "miracle cure" in Oklahoma is where Violet encounters some new love interests in the form of two Vietnam-bound soldiers (Colin Donnell and a Tony-nominated Joshua Henry). Monday, August 11
GO→ The Lion — a summer surprise charmer of a one-man show — introduced the theatre world to singer-songwriter Benjamin Scheuer. Scheuer, along with his band Escapist Papers, will play songs from the show and others off his second album "The Bridge" at Joe's Pub. (7:30 PM, Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette St., $14. Info/tickets.) 

Tuesday, August 12
GO (FREE)→ For the first time in a decade, a 57,600-square-foot section of the iconic AIDS Memorial Quilt will be displayed in New York. Earlier this year, a portion of the quilt was displayed at the Golden Theatre, as a part of Terrence McNally's post AIDS-era play Mothers and Sons. The famous tribute is perhaps the most stunning reminder of all those lost to the AIDS crisis. (Aug. 11-12, Governors Island. Info/schedule.)  Wednesday, August 13
WATCH→ New York City celebrates summer with a ton of free, outdoor entertainment. Hit up these free screenings as part of a citywide night at the drive-in subway-in! "Midnight Cowboy" (Aug. 14, Tompkins Square Park); "Pitch Perfect" (Aug. 16, South Street Seaport), "West Side Story" (Aug. 17, Habana Outpost), "The Way We Were" (Aug. 20, Central Park), "Frozen" (Aug. 20, Hoboken's Pier A Park), "The Wizard of Oz" (Aug. 22, Pier 46) and many more! GO→ Studio 54's cabaret under Cabaret (see what I did there?!) is practically the only game in town when it comes to a fully-booked cabaret schedule during the summer. In the sleepy dog days of August, 54 Below presents nearly two shows a night, seven nights a week! This week includes shows from Tony Yazbeck (Aug. 11), Tony winner Savion Glover (Aug. 12), Saycon Sengbloh (Aug. 13), the newsboys of Newsies (Aug. 14), The Book of Mormon's Matt Doyle (Aug. 15) and Pippin's Ariana DeBose (Aug. 15).
