Los Angeles News Tony Nominee Robert Longbottom Will Direct Hollywood Bowl's Into the Woods The Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical will be presented July 26–28.

Tony nominee Robert Longbottom (Flower Drum Song, Side Show) will direct and choreograph the Hollywood Bowl’s previously announced summer production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods, to be presented July 26–28. Tickets go on sale May 5.

The musical will feature musical direction by conductor Kevin Stites. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Recent musicals at the Hollywood Bowl include Annie, starring Ana Gasteyer, David Alan Grier, Megan Hilty, and Lea Salonga, directed by Michael Arden; Mamma Mia!, starring Jennifer Nettles, Jamie Camil, Dove Cameron, and Corbin Bleu, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall; A Chorus Line, starring Mario Lopez, Krysta Rodriguez, and Ross Lynch, directed and choreographed by Baayork Lee; Spamalot, starring Craig Robinson, Christian Slater, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Warwick Davis, and Eric Idle; and Hair, starring Kristen Bell, Hunter Parrish, Beverly D’Angelo, Benjamin Walker, and Amber Riley, directed by Adam Shankman.

Additional highlights of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 98th season at the Hollywood Bowl include Gustavo Dudamel conducting Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet suite, featuring LA Dance Project and choreography by Benjamin Millepied; an opening gala with recent Jesus Christ Superstar Emmy winner John Legend; and Pablo Ferrández making his Bowl debut with Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.
