The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, with nearly 3,500 shows. This year, Playbill is in Edinburgh for the entire month in August for the festival and we’re taking you with us. Follow along as we cover every single aspect of the Fringe, aka our real-life Brigadoon!
Benjamin Scheuer's previous show, The Lion, was about his complicated relationship with his father. It had a well-received Off-Broadway run in 2014. Now Scheuer is back with his newest show, A Mountain for Elodie. Similar to The Lion, Scheuer mines his own life for songs and stories.
A Mountain for Elodie features Scheuer onstage by himself, accompanied by piano and five guitars. Scheuer takes us through meeting his wife, the birth of his daughter, and how these events changed his perspective after the death of his father. The songs are heartfelt and they're interspersed with funny anecdotes and asides.
Get at taste of A Mountain for Elodie above, as Scheuer performs "Good Morning," a song from the perspective of his daughter, exclusively for Playbill.
A Mountain for Elodie runs at Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose until August 27.
