Welcome to the Rock! No, not that one. We're talking about Fraggle Rock. Apple TV+ reboots the 1983 Jim Henson series with Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock on January 21 with all 13 episodes available for a weekend binge of Muppety nostalgia.
Puppeteer-performer (and Avenue Q Tony nominee) John Tartaglia serves as executive producer and writer for the new series, and appears as Gobo in the Fraggle quintet central to the story. Muppeteers Karen Prell and Dave Goelz reprise their roles as Red and Boober from the original series, respectively, joined by Donna Kimball as Mokey and Jordan Lockhart as Wembley. Tony nominee Lilli Cooper (Tootsie) appears in the series as the human character Doc (catch a glimpse of her in the trailer below).
Expect several fun guest voices in the underground fantasy world, including Patti LaBelle, Tony winner Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple), Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, and Tony winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), who we happened to have snagged a clip of performing the tune "Get a Move On" as the Fraggle Jambolin. Check it out above.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is executive produced by The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford, alongside Tartaglia. Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson, who serve as showrunners, also executive produce, with New Regency’s Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer. Co-executive producers are Goelz and Prell, and executive music producer is Harvey Mason Jr. The series is produced by Ritamarie Peruggi.
