SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in a 29-hour staged reading of MULEHEADED.


SYNOPSIS: Harlem Renaissance writers Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston attempt to collaborate on a Broadway play called Mule-bone, but shifting loyalties to their white patron; explosive conflicts with a close confidante; and smoldering jealousies lead to betrayals that threaten to destroy long-term friendships and budding careers.

ZORA: 30s, Black, African, Caribbean, or African American, Female

LANGSTON: 20s-30s, Black, African, Caribbean, or African American, Male

LOUISE: 20s-30s, Black, African, Caribbean, or African American, Female


PREPARATION

Please prepare a contemporary monologue of no more than 2 minutes. If auditioning for Langston or Zora, please also prepare a poem written by the historical figure, of no more than one page. Also, please bring your headshot and resume.
