The cast will be led by 13-year-old Tré Jones, who can currently be seen as Young Simba in Broadway's The Lion King, as Toby, and nine-year-old Olivia Chun, seen on Broadway in the recent revival of The King and I, as Melinda.
Curbside Waltz, according to production notes, “tells the story of two kids whose imperfect upbringings have brought them together on a street curb in Brooklyn one afternoon. Although they initially seem innocent, it soon becomes clear that these are kids who have been forced to grow up too fast, dealing with parents who are often too absorbed in their own challenges to give their children the attention they deserve.”
The film, with screenplay and music by Richie Kormos, will be directed by Lexy Vecchio and filmed in Queens, NY. The creative team also includes Ari Rudess (casting), Helen Laser (costume designer) and Ashley Gerhardt (dramaturg).
Georgina Simon serves as executive producer of the film. A release date has yet to be announced.
