The whodunit murder mystery is the longest-running play in New York City history.

Christopher Douglaston Ryan has joined the cast of the record-breaking Perfect Crime Off-Broadway at the Anne L. Bernstein Theater.

Ryan, who has performed at Capital Repertory Theatre, New York Classical Theatre, and more, has stepped into the role of Lionel McCauley. He joins a company that currently includes Catherine Russell, John Schneider, and David Butler.

The whodunit murder mystery Perfect Crime celebrated its 15,000th performance December 5, 2024. The production is the longest-running play in New York City history.

Written by Warren Manzi and produced by Armand Michael Hyatt, the show follows brilliant psychiatrist and suspected killer Margaret Brent, her wealthy husband, her deranged patient, and her love interest, a handsome detective.

Russell has been with the production since its beginning. The murder mystery has played continually since 1987, and was the first Equity-approved production to reopen following the COVID shutdown.
