Casting has been revealed for the upcoming English-language premiere of Frank Wildhorn's musical adaptation of Death Note, based on the bestselling Japanese manga series of the same name. As previously announced, the work will play two concerts at the London Palladium August 21 and 22. Along with Wildhorn's music, the English version will feature lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell.

Stars of the London concert will include Frances Mayli McCann (Bonnie and Clyde) as Misa, Dean John-Wilson (Aladdin) as L, and Joaquin Pedro Valdes (The Lion King) as Light. Additional casting will be announced at a later time.

The musical, which previously enjoyed successful runs in Japan and Korea, centers on Light Yagami, a bright but dissatisfied Tokyo high school student who discovers discarded notebook once owned by a mythological god of death. In time, Light learns that he can kill anyone by writing their name in book, inspiring him to take justice into his own hands as a mysterious single letter named detective attempts to track him down.

The concert staging will be directed by Nick Winston. He is joined by a creative team consisting of associate director and choreographer Alex Sarmiento, costume designer Kimie Nakano, musical supervisor Katy Richardson, musical director Chris Ma, orchestrator Jason Howland, designer Justin Williams, lighting designer Ben Cracknell, sound designer Ben Harrison, casting director Harry Blumenau, art designer by Rebecca Pitt Creative, and producing team Carter Dixon McGill Production and Indie Theatrical.
