Oscar and Tony winner Spacey will play late, prolific American writer Gore Vidal in the original biopic. Dunne (I Love Dick, War Machine), according to Deadline, has been cast as the late, celebrated composer and musician Leonard Bernstein.

The film is currently shooting in Italy, where Vidal spent many years of his life and hosted various celebrities at his grand villa, La Rondinaia.

Andy Paterson is producing the film; no release date has been announced.

Vidal’s play The Best Man was revived on Broadway in the spring of 2012, just a few months before his death. The production was nominated for two Tony Awards, including Best Revival and Best Actor in a Play (James Earl Jones). Angela Lansbury starred in the production alongside Jones.

Dunne made his Broadway debut in 1992 in Howard Korder’s Search and Destroy. Spacey hosted the 2017 Tony Awards and recently starred in a limited engagement of the monologue play Clarence Darrow. On screen, he can be seen as Francis Underwood in the hit Netflix series House of Cards.
