Nick Cartell, currently starring as Jean Valjean in the national tour of Les Misérables, is releasing an album, A Thousand Spotlights, July 26. The album's new single, with Cartell singing Jason Robert Brown's "It All Fades Away" from Bridges of Madison County, drops June 28, but you can get an exclusive first listen to the track above.
Much of the upcoming release's song list comes from Disney, with Cartell offering his takes on "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" from Cinderella, "Why Should I Worry?" from Oliver & Company, and "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan. He also covers his place in the '80s megamusical canon, with "Music of the Night" and "Bring Him Home."
A Thousand Spotlights can be pre-saved and pre-ordered here.
Cartell will celebrate the album with a concert at 54 Below July 14, which will feature guest appearances from Phoenix Best (Teeth) and Casey Likes (Back to the Future). The concert will also stream live. In-person and streaming tickets are available at 54Below.org.
The forthcoming album is produced by Brian Eads and Wayne Haun, who also penned orchestrations. Cartell and Christine Cartell are serving as executive producers.
Cartell's Broadway credits include the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, Scandalous: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson, and Paramour. Along with Les Miz, he's also toured with The Phantom of the Opera.
