The new musical Dangerous—written by John C. Introcaso with lyrics by Michael Colby—will be workshopped in Manhattan October 17 and 18.
A love letter to the Golden Age of Hollywood set against the backdrop of the late 1930s, Dangerous: A Noir Musical follows saloon owner Rose McSweeney and her lover, gangster Jake Kinberg, who find themselves entangled in a deadly game when a mobster is murdered on opening night of Rose's nightclub in Shubert Alley.
Directed and choreographed by Tony nominee Denis Jones, the noir thriller will feature Jared Zirilli (Wu Tang: An American Saga) as Jake, Jill Paice (An American in Paris) as Rose, N'Kenge (Caroline, or Change) as Jazz, Preston Truman Boyd (Les Miserables) as Klaus von Schuler, Nicholas Cortazzo (Hadestown) as Meyer Lansky/Simon Ben-Ezra, Henry Gainza as Percival Bouchard, Danny Gardner (A Christmas Carol) as Inspector Kittering, Nigel Jamal Hall (A Wonderful World) as Dolsy Davis, Candice Hatakeyama (Funny Girl) as Olga Chikalov, Trisha Jeffrey (Little Shop of Horrors) as Monique, Kuppi Alec Jessop (The Sign of the Times) as Gregor Lawaich, Kaitlyn Mayse (Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella) as Senator Rosland Pike, Jon J. Peterson as Jilly/Nelson, Alex Pouloutides as Reva Akkerman, Yash Ramanujam as Abbu Mussad, James Rana (The Band's Visit) as Qasif Halim, Megan Sikora (42nd Street) as Myrtle, Bobby Underwood (Fiddler on the Roof) as Monk Genna/Hornbeck, and Stuart Zagnit (Harmony) as Professor Zweben.
The workshop will also feature music direction by Phil Reno, associate direction by Rachel Leigh Dolan, stage management by Jonathan Bach, assistant stage management by Emma Ramsay-Saxon, and production assistance by Haley Robles. Casting is by Judy Henderson with associate Emily Grayce.
