Casting has been announced for Geffen Playhouse's West Coast premiere of Furlough’s Paradise, written by a.k. payne. Directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, previews will begin April 16 prior to an official opening April 24 in the Gil Cates Theater.

The two-hander will feature Kacie Rogers (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Grace & Frankie) as Mina and DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It, Jurassic World Dominion) as Sade. Understudies m and Naomi C. Walley complete the company.

The play follows cousins Sade and Mina, who used to be inseparable, as they return to their childhood town for the funeral of their mother and aunt. While Sade is on a three-day furlough from prison and Mina experiences a brief reprieve from her career and life on the West Coast, the two try to make sense of grief, home, love, and kinship.

The upcoming production will also have scenic design by Chika Shimizu, costume design by Celeste Jennings, lighting design by Pablo Santiago, sound design by Cricket S. Myers, projection design by Yee Eun Nam, choreography by Dell Howlett, and casting by Phyllis Schuringa.

The production stage manager is Sam Allen, and the assistant stage manager is Alexus Jade Coney.

Performances will continue through May 18.
