Cabaret & Concert News Lea Salonga, Laura Benanti, and the Skivvies Coming to Feinstein’s/54 Below See all the theatre-related events scheduled this week at the intimate venue.

Feinstein’s/54 Below, the 134-seat supper club located below Studio 54, will boast these events of interest to theatre folk the week of May 4–11.

May 4: The Songs of Lewis Flynn
The award-winning composer of the musical Lysistrata Jones will host an evening of his songs performed by Patti Murin, Nat Nejat, Katie Boren, Andrew Rannells, Santino Fontana, Ashley Park, Alysha Umphress, and Nick Bailey. Two concerts, at 7 and 9:30 PM

May 5-6: Linda and Laura Benanti: The Story Goes On
Tony Award winner (and brand-new mom) Laura Benanti and her mother Linda Benanti take audiences on “a musical journey through the special relationship between a mother and daughter.” 7 PM

May 5 and 7: The Skivvies
Broadway performers Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley perform their comedy-pop-burlesque parody show clad in nothing but their underwear. Guests include Nick Adams, Claybourne Elder, Lesli Margherita, and Alice Ripley. 9:30 PM

May 5: Summer in the City: The Music of Regina Spektor
Regina Spektor salutes the songwriter with the help of special guests including Hamilton’s Anthony Lee Medina. 11:30 PM

May 6, June 12, July 6: You Don’t Own Me: The Fearless Females of the 1960s
Singer Carol J. Bufford delves into the social forces that brought to the fore in American culture the likes of Carole King, Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfield, Tina Turner, and Lesley Gore. 9:30 PM

May 7: Broadway Acts for Women
This live-band karaoke show will feature Broadway stars Rebecca Luker, Brian D’Arcy James, Keith Carradine, Jenn Colella, Ariana DeBose, and Noah Galvin, along with the A is For band, directed by Dan Lipton. Martha Plimpton and Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong will host. The concert is a fundraiser for A is For, a charity that promotes reproductive rights and seeks to end the stigma against abortion care. 6 PM

May 8: 54 Celebrates the Muppets
Broadway stars including James Monroe Iglehart, Lesli Margherita, Okieriete Onaodowan, Rick Lyon, Emily Skeggs, Keala Settle, and Stephanie D’Abruzzo salute Jim Henson’s puppet creations and the shows that have featured them. 7 PM Click here for details.

May 8: Ryan Vona
The singer-songwriter and Broadway performer (Paramour) plays songs from his recent debut album, Somebody, including tunes from artists who inspire him, including Glen Hansard, Adam Guettel, and Stephen Sondheim. 9:30 PM

May 9–22: Lea Salonga
The original star of Miss Saigon and Allegiance performs standards, pop tunes, and Broadway ballads. This will be the longest continuous engagement in the history of Feinstein’s/54 Below. Click here for more details. 7 PM

May 10: Hatched: Pace University at Feinstein’s/54 Below
An evening of songs from new musicals written, directed, and performed by freshmen from Pace University’s BFA Musical Theater program. Two shows: 9:30 and 11:30 PM

May 11: These Violent Delights
Conceived by Tricia Paoluccio, Simon Pearl, and Tom Monkel, this “musical adventure” is inspired by the film Westworld, and uses music “from Radiohead to the Rolling Stones.” 9:30 PM

May 11: Joey Arias and Sherry Vine
“Drag darlings” Arias (Zumanity and Arias With A Twist) and Vine (She’s Living For This) perform their “cabaret extravaganza.” 11:30 PM

Named for co-owner Michael Feinstein and Studio 54, the one-time disco and current Broadway theatre in whose basement the club is located, Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street in Manhattan.

Feinstein’s/54 Below featured performers Laura Benanti, Santino Fontana, and Rebecca Luker have been a special guests on Playbill’s Broadway by the Sea cruises. Playbill’s inaugural river cruise along the Rhône River May 21–28 is sold out, but cabins are available for the Rhine River cruise in August 2017, featuring Fontana, Seth Rudetsky, Andréa Burns, Faith Prince, Terrence Mann, and Charlotte d’Amboise.
