Lea Salonga and Eric Kunze, who co-starred on Broadway in 1993 as Eponine and Marius in Les Misérables, will reunite in a fall staging of the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home. Performances begin November 10 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati, Philippines.
Kunze has also been seen on Broadway in Miss Saigon and Damn Yankees. Salonga, a Tony winner for Miss Saigon, was recently seen on Broadway in Allegiance.
As previously announced, Salonga will star as Helen Bechdel, with Kunze set to play her husband, Bruce. The roles were originated on Broadway by Judy Kuhn and Michael Cerveris. The New York production will end its run September 10.
The Manila production marks the international premiere of the Broadway musical based on the Alison Bechdel graphic memoir. It will be directed by Bobby Garcia for Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group.
Fun Home won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Book and Best Score. It is also expected that the show's Tony-winning creators, lyricist and book writer Lisa Kron and composer Jeanine Tesori, will be traveling to Manila for the production.
