Casting is now set for the Pittsburgh CLO's upcoming production of the Tony-winning Meredith Willson musical The Music Man, which will be presented July 9-14 at the Benedum Center.
Sara Edwards will direct the production with choreography by Mara Newbery Greer.
The cast will be led by Nikki Renée Daniels as Marian Paroo, Charles Esten as Harold Hill, Ryan Cavanaugh as Marcellus Washburn, and Cissy Rebich as Mrs. Paroo. The cast also includes Nick Alvino as Tommy Djilas, E. Clayton Conelious as Mayor Shinn, Kammie Crum as Zaneeta Shinn, Aaron Galligan-Stierle as Oliver Hix, Michael Greer as Charlie Cowell, Ashley Harmon as Alma Hix, Jenna Kantor as Ethel Toffelmier, Emmett Kent as Winthrop Paroo, Christine Laitta as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, Natalie McGovern as Amaryllis, Brady D. Patsy as Ewart Dunlop, Erin Stetor-Seaberg as Maud Dunlop, David Toole as Jacey Squires, Joseph Torello as Olin Britt, Savannah Lee Birdsong as Mrs. Squires, Rory Prichard as Gracie Shinn, and Allan Snyder as Constable Locke.
The ensemble will feature Sarah Bishop, Melissa Burke, Bobby Davis, Julian Marcus DeGuzman, Zach Doran, Lucas Fedele, Daniel Frontz, Sloane Griffith, Laura Guley, Hannah Gunderman, Lena Kready, Louise Elizabeth Kready, Brady J. Kuntz, Sawyer Lincoln, Anderson Miller, Layla Miller, Coty Perno, Myah Segura, Donovan Elliot Smith, Henry J. Thomas, and Davis Wayne, with swing Sky Bennett rounding out the company.
The Music Man, which features music and lyrics by Meredith Willson and a book by Willson and Franklin Lacey, tells the story of what happens when con artist Harold Hill arrives in River City and falls in love with the straight-laced librarian, Marian. It first opened on Broadway December 19, 1957, at the Majestic Theatre with the late Robert Preston and Barbara Cook. A 2000 revival played the Neil Simon Theatre. The most recent revival, co-starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, played its final performance at the Winter Garden January 15, 2023.
The creative team also features music director-conductor Robert Neumeyer, scenic designer James Fouchard, lighting designer Paul Miller, sound designer Chris Evans, hair and makeup designer Jeff Knaggs, and casting director Geoff Josselson.
Renée Rimland is the production stage manager, and the assistant stage managers are Kelly Haywood and Christine Schott.
