Nsangou Njikam's When We Left Pt. 1 will receive a staged reading May 23 as a part of Out of the Box Theatrics' Building The Box series.

Centered on a Senator who is struggling to juggle a failed reparations bill, a deteriorating relationship with her daughter, and a new pro slavery bill, When We Left Pt. 1 imagines what the United States would look like without Black people, and how impossible crisis can only be answered with impossible solutions. 

The reading of When We Left Pt. 1 will star Kalyne Colem, LaVonda Elam, Gillian Glasco, Nuri Hazzard, Carson Higgins, Eden MarryshowAdesola Osakalumi, Greg Alverez Reid, and Arielle Yoder. The production team includes production stage manager Siobhan Peterson and assistant stage manager RiKa Sauvage.

Directed by Tiffany Nichole Greene, the staged reading will be presented at Theatre 71. Tickets are available now at OOTBTheatrics.com.
