Off-Broadway's Between the Lines plays its final performance September 11 at the Tony Kiser Theatre. Based on the YA book by Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha van Leer, Between the Lines features a book by Timothy Allen McDonald (James and the Giant Peach), and a score by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson. The musical officially opened July 11 after beginning previews June 15.
The story follows Delilah (played by Arielle Jacobs) as she moves to a new school and turns to the pages of story book to escape her own life. The lines between reality and fantasy begin to blur as she develops a crush on the book's handsome prince. The cast also features Jake David Smith, Vicki Lewis, Hillary Fisher, John Rapson, Wren Rivera, and Julia Murney. Aubrey Matalon serves as an understudy, along with Heather Ayers, Dan Hoy, and Martin Landry.

Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) directs, with orchestrations and arrangements by Gregory Rassen (Bandstand). The creative team also features choreographer Paul McGill (The Legend of Georgia McBride), music director Daniel Green (Almost Famous), scenic designer Tobin Ost (Newsies), costume designer Gregg Barnes (Mean Girls), lighting design by Jason Lyons (Rock of Ages), sound design by Ken Travis (Aladdin), projection designer Caite Hevner (In Transit), and hair and makeup designer J. Jared Janas (Jagged Little Pill).
