Abhann Productions has announced Riverdance will launch a brand new North American tour in 2025. Riverdance 30 – The New Generation will visit over 40 cities, including a two-week engagement at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center and a special weekend of performances at New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
The new tour reimagines the beloved original show with new choreography, costumes, lighting, projection, and motion graphics.
“It is both a privilege and a delight to celebrate 30 years of
Riverdance and the unique journey it has taken us on," director John McColgan said in a statement. "In those 30 years the show has transformed from a
spectacle into a global cultural phenomenon—continuously evolving yet remaining true to its Irish roots.
On this upcoming tour we look forward to welcoming ‘The New Generation’ of artists while paying tribute to the talented performers, creators, dedicated crew, and the millions of fans who have made Riverdance
a worldwide celebration of music and dance.”
Riverdance began its journey as the interval act in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, produced for television by Moya Doherty. This seven-minute dance piece was then developed into a full-length stage show by producer Moya Doherty, composer Bill Whelan, and director McColgan. The fusion of Irish and international dance and music broke box office records during its world premiere run in Dublin in 1995, played a subsequent engagement in London, then kicked off two decades of touring throughout North America. Since its inception, Riverdance has also been performed in Oceania, Asia, South Africa, and South America.
The creative team includes lead designer Peter Canning, set designer Alan Farquharson, lighting designer Andrew Voller, costume designer Joan Bergin, and sound designer Michael O'Gorman. The production will also feature video by Cosmo AV.
