James Cooper, Bryn Christopher, and Martin Batchelar have written the work about the worst date ever.

Casting and creative team members have been revealed for the previously announced upcoming world premiere musical Lovestuck, from the creators of the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast. The new work, conceived and written by James Cooper and to be directed by Jamie Morton, will begin performances June 6 at London's Stratford East, with opening night set for June 17. Performances will continue through July 12.

The project also features music by Bryn Christopher and Martin Batchelar and lyrics by Christopher and Cooper.

The cast will be led by Bridgette Amofah as Cassandra and Miseraie, Marcus Ayton as Reece, Jessica Boshier as Lucy, Johan Munir as David, and Shane O’Riordan as Peter, with an ensemble comprising Ambra Caserotti, Callum Connolly, and Holly Liburd. Casting is by Will Burton for Grindrod Burton Casting.

The work follows 30-somethings Lucy and Peter on their first date, opening with Lucy stuck in Peter's bathroom window upside-down. From there, the show reveals how the two lovers found themselves in that situation, all while tackling online dating, toxic social media, and more.

“This project has been years in the making and a real labor of love," say Cooper, Christopher, and Batchelar in a joint statement. "We wanted to make a musical that felt modern whilst staying true to the traditional form, so to be premiering at Stratford East, a theatre with such rich history and a contemporary spirit, feels like the ideal fit. Add to that, our incredibly talented cast and creative team, and it’s the perfect match. We’re so excited to finally share this funny, feel-good show with audiences.”

“I am thrilled to be directing this bold, fresh new musical exploring the complicated, embarrassing, and frankly hilarious predicaments we get ourselves into on the quest to find love," adds Morton. "As a champion of new work, it’s an even greater joy to bring a wholly original British musical to the stage—one with a killer score and riotously relatable book. I couldn’t be prouder of my impeccable cast and creative team and cannot wait for audiences to fall head over heels for the theatrical magic we’re creating at Stratford East.”

Morton's creative team will include set and costume designer Tom Rogers, choreographer Chi-San Howard, lighting designer Adam King, sound designer Beth Dule, and dramaturg Kate Golledge.
