Jed Seidel's comedy concerns an actor with stage fright and a murder that leaves cast and crew on edge.

Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck (On the Town) will direct an industry reading of Jed Seidel's Stage Fright October 6.

The cast will feature Debra Messing (Birthday Candles, Will & Grace), Betsy Wolfe (& Juliet, Falsettos), David Pittu (The Front Page), Jayne Houdyshell (The Music Man, Only Murders in the Building), Gloria Reuben (ER), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Parade), Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill), Alex Boniello (Dear Evan Hansen), Joel Perez (Fun Home), Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof), and Shannon Tyo (The Comeuppance). Casting is by Geoff Josselson.

The work follows a television actor fighting through stage fright to make her Broadway debut when a shocking murder puts the entire company on edge.

Foresight Theatrical serves as general manager.

Yazbeck, mostly known as an actor, has been moving into directing in recent years. He has worked as an associate with Bill T. Jones and Tina Landau, and previously directed a series of collaborative theatrical concerts for the YoungArts Foundation. He is poised to helm a Lincoln Center concert performance of Stephen Schwartz and John Caird's Children of Eden in 2024.

Seidel is a veteran TV writer/producer whose many credits include Ghost Whisperer, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Nash Bridges.
