Watch: Learn This Irish Dance Meets Tap Routine From the Five-Time Irish Dance World Champion | Playbill

Video Watch: Learn This Irish Dance Meets Tap Routine From the Five-Time Irish Dance World Champion Irish dancer David Geaney takes us “in the studio” to learn a combo from his current Off-Broadway dance extravaganza Velocity.

Five-time Irish Dance World Champion David Geaney currently stars alongside “the fastest feet in the world,” dancer James Devine, in Velocity at The New Victory Theater. (Devine can tap 38 taps per second!) The unstoppable duo—and guests AnneMarie Keaney and Gabriella Wood—dance at breakneck speed for 75 minutes in this explosive production showcasing the past, present, and future of Irish Dance. Backed by a live funk-pop-Celtic band and DJ, the show is a rock concert meets jam session meets epic choreographic feet.

Geaney took Playbill onto the stage of The New Victory Theater to teach the dancers at home a bit of custom Irish/tap choreography. Follow along in the video above to learn the routine at home and jam out to the live music, played by percussionist Moisés Mas García, violinist Ross Couper, cellist Alec Brown, guitarist Sean Leahy, and DJ Jack McMahon.

Can you keep up with the world champion?

Velocity plays New York City’s New Victory Theatre (209 W 42nd Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenues) in a limited engagement run through Sunday, November 25, 2018. Click here for tickets and information.
