Performances of the 1950's-set high school comedy are set to begin March 23 at New York’s Theatre Row. The show, produced by Tom and Michael D’Angora, opens April 28.
The musical features classic 50's and 60's hits including "Lollipop," "Dream Lover," "Stupid Cupid," "Son of a Preacher Man," "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" and "It’s My Party."
Created, written and originally directed by Roger Bean, the previous New York production played at Off-Broadway's Westside Theatre September 2008-January 2010. Here's how the show is billed: "The Marvelous Wonderettes takes a cotton-candied colored musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet 'The Wonderettes,' four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! We experience their lives and loves from prom night to their 10-year reunion as told through more than 20 chart topping hits of the era!"
Tickets can be purchased at The Theatre Row box office, located at 410 W. 42nd St., Manhattan, or through Telecharge.com.
