L.A. Dance Project seeks an experienced Stage Manager to join the company for international and domestic touring engagements. The ideal candidate will have experience working to create complex, large-scale performances in both theatres around the world. They will have a strong stage management background in dance, theater and/or opera, and will be a skilled multi-tasker. They will be a clear and effective communicator with strong time management and detail-oriented documentation skills. This position reports directly to L.A. Dance Project’s Director of Production. Whilst on tour, the Stage Manager works alongside the Lighting Director, Production & Tour Manager, and L.A. Dance Project’s Associate Artistic Director.
Day-to-day:
Run all in-theater rehearsals, including technical rehearsals.
Call performances and/or serve as a roaming/deck SM as needed.
Track creation of and document sound, set, and lighting cues.
In tandem with, and instructing local crew, manage and maintain all production wardrobe.
Learn existing repertory from video and archival stage management paperwork.
Create and send clear daily schedules to the full touring company (dancers and administrative staff).
Compile and send daily performance reports.

5+ years of experience in stage management, ideally with a career concentration in classical, contemporary and modern dance.
Be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Must be able to travel internationally, have a current passport without travel restrictions, and a completed COVID-19 vaccination program.
Be able to use and communicate via a ClearCom (or similar) headset and microphone.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Possess a wide-ranging knowledge of industry-standard theatrical working practices, with specific interest in technical elements.
Fluency with reading sheet music.
Los Angeles area / SoCal residents preferred.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025.
Touring rate for Stage Management is $1350.00 per week. Prep fees are considered on a project-by-project basis.
