Prospect Theater Company has revealed complete casting for its upcoming concert presentations of The Hello Girls. The one-night-only concerts will be held May 7 at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and May 12 at New York City's Peter Norton Symphony Space. The production will also offer a free, family-friendly mini-concert at the National World War I Memorial in D.C. May 5.
Newly announced cast members include Ben Davis (New York, New York), Lisa Helmi Johanson (POTUS), Savy Jackson (Bad Cinderella), Asher Muldoon (Dear Evan Hansen), Laura Jean Spineti (The Oldenburg Suite), Matthew Weatherhead, and Kat Wolff. They join the previously reported Ellie Fishman (Into the Woods), Arlo Hill (The Phantom of the Opera), Chanel Karimkhani (The Goree All Girl String Band), Andrew Mayer (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Ben Moss (Oratorio for Living Things), and Lili Thomas (Chicago), all of whom were part of the world premiere cast.
The Hello Girls tells the story of the first women soldiers in the U.S. Army, who served on the front lines during World War I. The musical, commissioned and developed by Prospect Theater Company, premiered Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters in 2018.
The show features music and lyrics by Peter Mills, with a book by Mills and Cara Reichel. Choreography is by Christine O'Grady, music direction is by Ben Moss, and the production is directed by Reichel. The concerts will also feature original company percussionist Elena Bonomo (Six) and bass player Jordyn Davis.
The D.C. concerts are presented by the Doughboy Foundation, with support from the US World War I Centennial Commission. The NYC performance is presented as part of Prospect's IGNITE series.
