Danny Robins’ 2:22–A Ghost Story, which ended its limited engagement at the West End's Lyric Theatre April 23, transfers to the Apollo Theatre May 14 for an 18-week engagement through September 17.
The new company includes Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill, Good Sam) as Lauren, Ricky Champ (Him & Her, Eastenders) as Ben, Clifford Samuel (McMafia; Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll) as Dan, and Jaime Winstone (Kidulthood, Donkey Punch) as Jenny.
Matthew Dunster directs.
2:22–A Ghost Story began its life in summer 2021 at the Noël Coward Theatre starring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser, and Jake Wood. It then transferred to the Gielgud Theatre for 10 weeks beginning December 4, 2021, starring Stephanie Beatriz, James Buckley, Elliot Cowan, and Giovanna Fletcher. Performances began at the Criterion in May 2022 and continued through September with Tom Felton, Mandip Gill, Sam Swainsbury, and Beatriz Romilly. In late September, Laura Whitmore, Matt Willis, Felix Scott, and Tamsin Carroll took over at the Criterion before the show transferred to its recent home at the Lyric with Cheryl as Jenny, Jake Wood as Ben, Scot Karim as Sam, and Louise Ford as Lauren.
In the thriller, Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Belief and skepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer, so they’re going to stay up… until 2:22… and then they’ll know.
The production also has set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph Sound, illusions by Chris Fisher, casting by Matilda James, and co-direction by Gabriel Vega Weissman.
2:22 - A Ghost Story is produced by Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David, and Kater Gordon.
