Well, Merry Christmas to us! MJ the Musical slipped a special gift under our tree today: A new video of the Broadway cast performing the Jackson 5 rendition of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town."
Though the song is most associated with the Jackson 5, the tune was actually written in 1934 by Tin Pan Alley songwriters J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie. A quick holiday standard, the song has been recorded by Bing Crosby, The Andrews Sisters, The Four Seasons, and The Supremes. The Jackson 5 gave it a spin on their 1970 Jackson 5 Christmas Album.
MJ The Musical opened February 1, 2022 at the Neil Simon Theatre. It features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the most popular songs in recording history. Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs.

Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
