Amy Di Bartolomeo, Jacob Young, Dale Evans, and Emily Burnett will star in a one-night-only West End staged concert of the new musical For Tonight—featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Shenelle Salcido and Spencer Williams—September 5 at the Adelphi Theatre.
Inspired by writer Williams’ great-grandfather's handwritten journal, the story begins in a small town in 1832 North Wales, where a Romani family have found shelter and friendship. An unknown disease, however, brings tragedy, and the blame falls on them, forcing them to flee. Meanwhile, three children of the town have to grow up fast after losing their parents. Years later, a twist of fate reunites them with the travelers they once knew.
Nick Evans (Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ Superstar) will direct the love story.
Written by Salcido and Williams, the score also interpolates traditional Welsh choral, indie-pop, folk, and Romani style melodies and rhythms. The upcoming concert will also have music direction by lestyn Griffiths, choreography by Kevan Allen, set design by Stewart J Charlesworth, lighting design by Jai Morjaria, orchestrations by Jen Green, and orchestral management by Dave Danford for Absolute Music Services Ltd. Raine Geoghegan provides cultural script consultation with general management by HD General Management and casting by Harry Blumenau.
The one-night-only staged concert follows a U.K. development workshop in 2022, as well as development at New York Musical Theatre Festival, New York Theatre Barn, Queensbury Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, Michigan State University, and Isle of Man’s Gaiety Theatre. A concept album was previously released.
For Tonight is produced by Blair Russell.
