Karl will perform as Rapunzel's Prince for the production's opening weekend in Washington, D.C.

Anything can happen in the woods. For the Into the Woods touring production's official opening at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Andy Karl is stepping back into the production as Rapunzel's Prince for the February 25-26 performances, while Jason Forbach, who usually plays that role, takes over the part of The Baker.

Sebastian Arcelus, who typically plays The Baker, is temporarily sidelined from the production as he recovers from a recent injury. Karl, Arcelus, and Forbach all performed in the 2022 Broadway production.

The Into the Woods tour launched February 18 at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York, and continues at the Kennedy Center through March 19.

The cast also includes Montego Glover as The Witch, Stephanie J. Block as The Baker’s Wife, Gavin Creel as Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf, Cole Thompson as Jack, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Diane Phelan as Cinderella, Nancy Opel as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Aymee Garcia as Jack’s Mother, Rayanne Gonzales as Jack’s Mother (Buffalo and DC only), David Patrick Kelly as The Narrator, Josh Breckenridge as Cinderella’s Father, Felicia Curry as Cinderella’s Mother/Grandmother/Giant’s Wife, Ta’Nika Gibson as Lucinda, Brooke Ishibashi as Florinda, Kennedy Kanagawa as Milky White, Jim Stanek as the Steward, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel with Erica Durham, Ellie Fishman, Marya Grandy, Paul Kreppel, Eddie Lopez, Ximone Rose, and Sam Simahk as understudies.

The Into the Woods revival, which arrived on Broadway following a sold-out run at New York City Center Encores!, is directed by Lear deBessonet with music supervision by Rob Berman and choreography by Lorin Latarro. This production is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Sondheim.

The production also has scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Andrea Hood, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, co-sound design by Scott Lehrer and Alex Neumann, puppet design by James Ortiz, hair, wigs, and makeup design by Cookie Jordan, music direction by John Bell, and casting by Telsey & Co. with production supervision by Cody Renard Richard. The production stage manager is Scott Rowen.

Into the Woods premiered on Broadway in 1987, winning three Tony Awards, including Best Score and Best Book.
