Anthony Rapp, who created the role of Mark in the original Broadway production of Jonathan Larson's Rent, brings his solo show, Without You, back to New York City beginning April 19.
Directed by Steven Maler with musical direction by Daniel Weiss and additional arrangements by Tom Kitt, Rapp plays the Royal Family Performing Arts Space on West 46th Street through April 21. The actor is backed by Weiss on keyboard, Jerry Marotta on drums, David Malachowski on guitar, Peter Sachon on cello, and Paul Gil on bass.
Without You begins in 1994 as Rapp was about to audition for Larson's new musical. He shares his audition for Rent, his casting as Mark, rehearsals, and his view from the stage during the tribute performance the night after Larson's tragic untimely death. Without You also details Rapp's relationship with his late mother during this turbulent time.
