Three-time Tony recipient Bernadette Peters will present fellow Hello, Dolly! star Donna Murphy with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 Urban Stages Benefit Gala May 15 at The Central Park Boathouse.
In addition to two-time Tony winner Murphy, artist Edwina Sandys will also be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by journalist Anthony Haden-Guest.
Urban Stages continues its celebration of the Year of Women by honoring Murphy, who was named a living legend of New York theatre by New York Magazine, and Sandys, who was awarded the United Nations Society Writers & Artists Award for Excellence.
The evening, which begins at 6:30 PM, will celebrate 35 years of acclaimed Off-Broadway plays and musicals and art programming. The gala fundraiser will note Urban Stages’ history of premiering new works that go on to bigger venues and/or publications.
Attendees can expect cocktails, gondola rides in Central Park, entertainment, and a live auction.
