Feinstein’s/54 Below, the supper club located below Manhattan's Studio 54, will boast these events of interest to theatre folk the week of August 31–September 7.
August 31–September 3: Michael Feinstein: Showstoppers The co-owner and namesake of Feinstein’s returns to his home base with a concert of songs that explore the meaning of the expression “showstopper.” Special guest: Tony Award winner Betty Buckley (August 31–September 3). August 31: New Writers at 54! The Songs of Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair
Tony Award nominees Stephanie D’Abruzzo (Avenue Q) and Sarah Stiles (Hand to God) will join Chip Zien, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, and other Broadway veterans in performing songs by the team that created the Off-Broadway musical Murder for Two. 9:30 PM Click here for details.
September 1: Janet Krupin’s Chemical Drive Krupin(Bring It On, If/Then, Hands on a Hardbody) and her band perform their original musical with words by Krupin and music by Krupin, Brian Ripps, and Gabe Cummins. The cast includes all three writers, along with Lilli Cooper, Ari Groover, and Tyler Milliron. Directed by Chris Fink. 9:30 PM Click here for details.
September 4 and 6–9: Sierra Boggess The star of Broadway’s The Little Mermaid and School of Rock sings a solo concert. 7 PM Click here for details.
September 5: 54 Sings Ingrid Michaelson Stage stars including Nicholas Barasch (She Loves Me), Kathryn Gallagher (Spring Awakening), and Max Chernin (Bright Star), will perform songs by the folk singer–songwriter, including “The Way I Am,” “Winter Song,” and “Miss America.” Featuring George Salazar and Chris McCarrell.9:30 PM
September 5: 54 Sings Sugar Tony Roberts, original star of the 1972 musical Sugar, will host a concert version of the show’s Jule Styne–Bob Merrill score, starring Lesli Margherita, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Tony Sheldon, and others.Two shows: 7 and 9:30 PM Click here for details.
September 6: John Owen–Jones The Welsh singer-actor, known for starring in Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera in London and New York, performs his solo show. 9:30 PM
September 7: The Harvard–Yale Cantata Singing alumni from the two Ivy League heavyweights hold a competition, with Harvard grads performing songs written by Harvard grads versus Yale alums performing tunes written by Yalies. 9:30 PM
